The Recreation and Park Administration Major (RPA) has been accredited by the Council on Accreditation in Recreation, Park Resources, and Leisure Services by the National Recreation and Park Association since 1985. The field of recreation is a rapidly growing profession with vast rewards for those in the field.  The mission of the Recreation and Park Administration Program is to promote the healthy use of leisure through exemplary teaching, focused research, and professional service.

People spend much of their free time participating in a wide variety of organized recreational activities, such as sports, outdoor activities, leisure travel, arts and crafts. Recreation professionals plan, organize, and implement programs in local recreation and park areas, community centers, religious organizations, camps, theme parks, and tourist attractions. Increasingly, recreation professionals also are being found in workplaces, where they organize and implement activities for employees. Our graduates have found rewarding and fun careers by providing programs and services that make a difference in people's lives.
