Minors

Athletic Coaching

Completion of a minor in Athletic Coaching serves to enhance employability in areas such as public schools and recreation settings. Completion of the minor makes the student eligible to take the exam for coaching certification. Download an application to the Athletic Coaching minor here. Application deadline is February 29, 2008. Exercise Science

The Exercise Science minor is an academic program designed for students who wish to engage in the study of exercise science, but do not wish to major in Kinesiology. This program of study provides academic background for individuals desiring initial exposure to the various professions in the exercise science field and to those majoring in related fields such as nursing, health sciences, and dietetics. At this time, minors are not being admitted into this program.

Physical Education Teacher Education

A minor in Physical Education Teacher Education (K-12 or 6-12) is designed for the student who is majoring in teaching in another subject area.

Recreation and Park Administration

The minor in Recreation and Park Administration (RPA) is designed for students who wish to pursue course work in recreation and park administration, but do not want to major in RPA. The minor provides background in management, leadership, and delivery of leisure services. A minor in RPA complements professions related to public administration and marketing, among others. At this time, minors are not being admitted into this program.
