Alumni Spotlight - Beth Bowdoin Tyre

Since graduating from Illinois State University, I began work at Caterpillar Inc. in Peoria, Illinois.  When I first entered Caterpillar Inc. I worked within Corporate Medical, specifically within the Health Promotion sector.  From there, I transitioned into Human Resources, working in a variety of areas, such as Labor Relations, Compensation & Benefits, Shared Services and Public Affairs.  In addition, I gained manufacturing operations experience as a frontline supervisor and as a 6 Sigma Black Belt.  In fall '06, I continued my education and achieved my Senior Professional Human Resource (SPHR) certification.

My current role is a Human Resource Manager at a Caterpillar Inc. facility in South Carolina.  I have responsibility for all human resource functions.  In addition, I help provide guidance for on-site nurses, cafeteria and security services.

I am married to Dave Tyre, also a graduate from Illinois State University, although we did not meet during college.  We have two boys, ages 4 and 3.  They keep our lives filled with activity and excitement.  We maintain friendships from Illinois and try to visit family and friends at least two to three times per year.   We enjoy the warm climate in the south, which provides ample amount of days to enjoy outdoor activities.  Our long term plans include relocating back to Peoria, Illinois area and building a house on some property we purchased a few years ago, which includes timber and farmground.
